Steep mountains 11-12 miles south of Talpa de Allende, in the
headwaters of a west branch of Río de Talpa; barranca above a
rapid clear stream, in dense forest of Quercus, Carpinus, Distylium,
Magnolia, Podocarpus, with pine forest on the ridges above; eleva-
tion 1200-1700 m.
Locally abundant on steep alluvial banks.
Fronds in clump, leathery, dark green, from
a wtrunk” up to 20 cm. long, 5 cm. diam.
