Fronds to 40" length. Stipe glabrous
except at base; tinged with pink.
Rhizome oblique* somewhat creeping but
finally rising 3" above ground; 2-2 1/2"
thick; covered with light to dark brown
scales. Side of small gully in southeast
section of gulch. Open canopy of
Metrosideros, Antidesma & Acacia koa w/
understory of Paspalum conjugatum
& Melinis. Elev: 1700'
