OTTO DEGENEP
Dear Mr. Degener:
I have your letter of April 22 and am glad to hear
that the nine packages of Asplénium reached you in good
condition. I note your intention of forwarding a set of
this material soon. These specimens, as well as the others
to ?which you refer, will be very welcome.
I am sorry to hear of Mr. Topping1s illness, and wish
you would convey to hi$ my very best regards. I doubt if
I can be of much use in harping him dispose of his private
collection of ferns. Dr. E. D. Merrill would have a pretty
good idea of its value, I suppose, and it might not be a bad
idea to write him on the chance that Harvard might purchase
the collection. Possibly also Dr. Christensen iiight be interested.
His address is: Dr. Carl Christensen, Skaanesgade 6, Copenhagen S,
Denmark. I do not know whether Christensen1 is still building up
his private collection, since resigning from the Botanisk Museum,
but in that case the Botanisk Museum itself might be a possible
purchaser.
There are other good possibilities, but I should think
it desirable first to try these two.
Yours
truly
Economic uses.
