Habitat
Metrosideros-Cheirodendron Montane Wet Forest. w/ Clermontia spp., Adenophorus spp., Dryopteris spp., Astelia, Coprosma. Bryophytes are common in the shrub layer and Pteridophytes are abundant.

Description
Rhizome black, creeping w/ 20-30 fronds clustered in wet, open forest floor; stipe black w/ brown paleaceous scales ca. 100 cm long; rachis green-brown; lamina ca. 100 cm long.
