(35° 12’ E 3° 12’ S). Alt. 1800 m.	Apr 13, 1993
Tree, severely damage by fire 6 months ago. Just started re growth from the main
stem. Maasai name: enchani orpurkel (often pronounced as enchanurpurkel)
William ole Seki: Mixture of feminine and masculine gender e.g. "enchani
empurkel". Decoction of root mixed with soup to treat gonorrhea. It is very
bitter. The murran place the root in their dresses as perfume, when they are going
to meat-camp. Oloirago ole Mayanga, Ilchololik-age group, living in Aldarpoi:
Elders like it as it promotes urination. Inner bark of root of 4 pieces 40 cm long
and 1 1/2-2 1/2 cm thick is used for 20 litre water and 4 kg honey. The beer can
either be fermented with the inner bark or it can be added after fermentation. This
honey beer is classified as medicine, even though it is of same strength as normal
honey beer, due to fermentation with the normal amount of roots of "osuguroi"
(normally honey beer is classified as food). Used for transmitted gonorrhea
particularly among elders. 4 root pieces with bark 20 cm long and 2,5 cm thick is
boiled in 2-3 litre of water for 1 1/2-2 hour and mixed with 1 1/2 litre meat soup
made on any part of the animal. The decoction is bitter. The portion suits for 3
persons and is drunk at the same time. Treatment 3 times on the same day and
then finish. It makes one urinates a lot, which they like as it cleans the body.
