Description
spore length: 7.0 - 8.5 microns; spore width: 4.0 - 5.5 microns; spore shape: elliptical; spore texture: roughened with tiny bumps all over; spore color: clear; spore print color: rusty brown. DNA analysis in 2015 returned Gymnopilus penetrans but the macro and micro information, along with Dr. Andrew Methven's close 2015 study of the actual voucher specimen (see annotations above) and the information supplied on Michael Kuo's website: http://www.mushroomexpert.com/gymnopilus_liquiritiae.html, described the specimen exactly. These results determined that this specimen is Gymnopilus liquiritiae. As Dr. Methven states in his annotations above, Gymnopilus penetrans differs macroscopically and microscopically.
