Description
spore length: 9.5 - 13 microns; spore width: 4 - 6.5 microns; spore shape: ovately elliptical; spore texture: smooth; spore color: hyaline; spore print color: white. The mushroom was growing in very rocky clay soil. The photos show a root that has been folded back and forth due to the rocks in the soil. Otherwise the root would be longer. But as you can see the root mass is black. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Polyporus radicatus.
