Description
spore length: 25 - 30 microns; spore width: 13.5 - 17 microns; spore shape: elliptic; spore texture: finely reticulate (see comments below); spore color: clear; spore print color: white. Spores - Finely reticulate, with several short projections on each end, containing 1-3 oil droplets. The projections appear because this is a mature specimen. Younger specimens do not have the projections (spines). Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Gyromitra brunnea.
