Description
spore length: 4.25 microns; spore width: 2.75 microns; spore shape: elliptical; spore texture: smooth; spore color: clear, hyaline; spore print color: white. The crownlike tips, color and peppery taste, noted in Audubon Society field guide, lent itself to the creditability of the classification. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Artomyces pyxidatus.
