    spore length: 3 - 5 microns; spore width: 3 - 4 microns; spore shape: round to nearly round; spore texture: smooth or minutely roughe; spore color: clear; spore print color: white. This specimen was originally identified as Hericium coralloides. DNA confirmed Hericium coralloides. However, the name has been changed to Hericium americanum (see Dr. Methven's annotations above).
