  • Description

spore length: 19 - 22.5 microns; spore width: 10 - 12.5 microns; spore shape: broadly elliptical; spore texture: smooth - clusters of oil drops, 2 major drops; spore color: clear; spore print color: n/d. Deep, bright red cup with white outer surface. Found on small, dead twigs on steep, hilly ground. Unable to obtain a spore print due to the small nature of the species. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Sarcoscypha occidentalis.
