F. BURGER, Plant Pathologist MISS L. R. HUNTER. Chief Clerk Dr. Frederick L. Lewton, Smithsonian Institutibh, United States National Museum Washington* Dear Dr. Lewton äkTHUR F. CAMP, 0 Assistant Plant? Pathologist Cotton investigations. mmm* ^TANICAL stufet*''' Gainesville, Florida Feb. 16, 1925 I, am enclosing .in this letter a lock of cotton from some sent to me by Mr. LeWin in Key West, Florida. Also a bract from a square and a leaf. These latter came thru in very poor condition but will give you perhaps a little idea as to what it is. He also sent a blossom but it was so badly decayed then it got here that I could not tell whether it had had a hi:il3=- spot*ar not but I think it^had, the tops of I the toi^s^were p&SÉfty yellow. The boil was three, locked and resemble the Sea Island boll and it was my guess that it might be Gossypium barbadense var. lana-rufumv or whatever it was that appeared under that name in the collections at Wash- ington. I would appreciate it if you would be able to tell me with some degree of certainty the correct name for this.
