Remnant Larrea desert, open, with Yucca elata,
Prosopis, all shrubs about 1.5 m tall or less. With Opuntia
polyacantha var. rufispina (13006) and Opuntia violacea var.
macrocentra (13007).
Plant 1 m wide, 1/4 m tall (stake in photo = 8 dm),
gray-green, ± 5-7 joints / stem, spreading; spines black, reddish
at tip to whitish; fruits mostly dropped, ovoid, truncate, 37-
40x18-27 mm, purple-red.
