Stout, climbing, spineless, flat-stemmed plant. Branches flattened, somewhat leaflike,
coarsely crenate, pointed, up to 8 or more cm. wide, central rib prominent. Flowers tubular,
up to 25 or more cm. long, white or sometimes pinkish outside, fragrant, opening at night;
stamens very numerous.
A showy and interesting ornamental (9971). Only one specimen was
seen, in a dooryard in Alofi. English name, gooseneck cactus.
