Interpret. Herb. Amb. (1917) 133 (Bromelia comosa Linn.). The pineapple is generally cultivated throughout the Philip- pines and in some regions, notably parts of Palawan, has become thoroughly naturalized. It was introduced from Mexico at an early date by the Spaniards and is universally kncrwh in the Philippines by its Spanish name pina.
