of OR Rt. 18 and Salmon River. Elev. 3,500 ft. Siuslaw
National Forest. Coast Range Ecoregion. Acid peat and
humus over basaltic bedrock; open water has been tested
at pH 5.3.
NEW YORK BOTANICAL GARDEN
Peat bog (meadow) with Sphagnum, Carex spp.,
Sanguisorba, Hypericum anagalloides, Gentiana
sceptrum; surrounded by montane forest with
Rhododendron, Thuja, Tsuga, Alnus, Gaultheria shallon.
Common mostly prostrate perennial, with creeping stems
in large patches; few in flower, these pale yellow-orange,
erect.
