W. Quechee Gorge, south side of US Rt. 4, elev. ca.
500-530 ft. West side of gorge. Acid humus over
metamorphic gneissic boulders and bedrock.
Mixed mesic to wet upland forest with Tsuga, Acer; E
facing slopes with Osmunda, Dryopteris, Carex. Fronds
erect in a whorl from a short rhizome, rather common on
seepage slopes.
