SENSITIVE FERN
( Onoclea sensibilis L. )
This specimen of the Sensitive Fern is the form obtusilobata, an intermediate form between the sterile
and fertile leaves, which occurs after a plant has been damaged in some way. The edges of the
pinnae are bipinnatifid, with the lobes rounded; the usual frond is pinnatifid with wavy edges. As is
usual with this fern, it was found growing at the edge of a lake in dappled shade.
Collected: August 30, 2001, at the edge of the West Cove, which is a stream leading into Eastman
Lake, Grantham, NH	ip M.	S.».
