Acidic clay-loam over mica schist and gneiss.
Oak-maple-sourwood-hickory -Ilex-Kalmia
latifolia-Calycanthus floridus mesic forest,
bottomland. Cultivated shrub 2.5 meters tall,
evergreen, branches somewhat pendulous; flowers
white-cream. Planted 11/5/1989 on bank of West
Village Creek next to large Pinus strobus. From
Head-Lee Nursery, Seneca, SC.
