tion 6, extreme SW1/4, 4850 feet, 1475
meters.
S-facing rocky slope, with Agave parryi
(past flowering), A. chrysantha x A. parryi?,
Opuntia engelmannii, Mimosa biuncifera,
Gutierrezia sarothrae, Juniperus monosperm a,
grasses, Coryphantha vivipara, Quercus turbin-
ella, Nolina microcarpa, Cercocarpus montan-
us. Rosette cloning, compact, leaves some-
what imbricate, green-gray glaucous, stalk
relatively narrow, 18 ft tall, 5-6 cm in
diam., 22 lateral peduncles, hummingbird
visiting flowers. Lower most flowers with
signs of fruit development, ovulary lime
green, tube limegreen-yellow, tepals yellow-
orange, brown-tipped, filaments, anthers,
style, stigma deep orange-yellow, all flowers
dehisced with much pollen overnite, nectar
also produced then, flowers with very
strong, musky, sour-fruity smell; flower
measurements (in mm; after Gentry, 1982):

fil=53, anth=5.5+4.5, style=42; tl=48, 0=23x6.5,

fil=49, a=5+5, sty=39. Compact rosette, color
and armature of leaves, flower size, neck
suggests introgression with A. parryi.
