Along bike trail, formerly a railroad line, through floodplain
of Pine River, Acer saccharinum, Quercus macrocarpa, Q.
ellipsoidalis, Ulmus americana, Corylus americana.
Patch of shrubs, with slender stems, to 1.5 m. tall, 0.8 cm.
in diameter. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Some 1-
year-old stems with 3 corky wings from the base of the
nodes. Inflorescence hanging; flowers yellow-green,
odorless (5:30 P.M., sunny).
