Occasional, low to medium climber. Stem 3.5 cm
thick, roughened. Internodes 2-6 cm. Petiole 75-
85 cm, grooved at upper end. Sheath deciduous, 40
cm. Blade 1-lj* m X 80-90 cm. Peduncle to 8 cm.
Spathe 11 cm, diagonally attached for 2 cm. Spadix
stipitate or spathe decurrent. Spadix 6 (fl.)-i5
(fr.) X 2(fl.) to 4.5 (fr.) cm. Fruit red.
Regrowth on clay, 35 meters.
Fanindi, 1 km west of Manokwari.
Local name: 'iPanggal" (Manikiong)
