Thin brushy woods, with Robinia pseudoacacia, Ulmus
pumila, on flat sandy soil.
Shrub 4.5 m. tall, to 12 cm. in diameter, several scattered in
area and not now obviously a clone, the largest stem 12 cm.
in diameter but rotten. The wood specimen from healthy
stem 7 cm. in diameter and 33 years old. Voucher for wood
specimens at Kw, Lw, MADw, MEXUw, RSAw. Flowers
musty-fragrant; petals white.
