Description
Photographs of a young specimen of Picea breweriana Wats. in Caribou Basin taken by John Thomas Howell. The tree is about 40 feet (circa 13 m.) tall. It grows in a grove of Abies magnifica Murr., the trunk of one of which is in the right-hand foreground of one of the photographs. The trees on the granitic slope in the background are chiefly Abies nagnifica and Tsuga mertensisna (Bong.) Sarg. The specimens of foliage and cones were taken from the Picea which was photographed, the bark was taken from a newly fallen tree nearby. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
