f. 6-8. F 1898.
Brownish (ferrugineus, fulvus); encrusted with ferric-oxide (Fe 203),
sometimes in narrow bands, generally forming extensive coatings; cells
13-20 mic. in diameter, twice the diameter in length, after division
equalling the diameter.
In acid waters of overflow. Temperature 7^4° C.
Echirus Geyser, Yellowstone National Park.
Coll. W. H. Weed, 1897.
The width of the filament in the form is somewhat narrower than those
of the species. The specimen shows well the “letter H” appearance of
the ruptured membrane which De Toni makes a generic character.
