Fagonia chilensis H. & A. var. laevis (Standi.) Johnst.
Suffrutescent plants blooming first year, lower stems becoming
stoloniferous and 30 (40) cm. long, bearing many erect brittle
branches 10-15 cm. long; petals rose-purple fading white, clawed,
spreading. In crevices of metamorphic rocks, Larrea-Olneya asso-
ciation, altitude ca. 1750 feet. Northwest base of Chuckawalla
Mountains seven miles south of Highway 60-70,
Riverside County.
