Notes by Huger Pound Attached to Specimen of T, Vaseyl Harbison
at NY, formerly in herb. Small who probably was about to call
this taxon "T. hugerl Small" The date is shortly before 1900.

Wine-red Trillium ("Red Wines) or "Bacchantes" -
flowers long peduncled - pendent - not curved but mostly
straight but may ? become erect in fruit.
White Path Springs - near RR Dep [otj abjoujt 15 - 1600 ft - May 3rd 1900
later - May 8th 1900 - even more abundant in Cook's Glen -
NW slopes Blue Ridge (17-1800 ft) also in Ross Cove -
to left of RR to Knoxville Tenn - ab feiQ t 2 mis North of B1 Ridge Gro.
Also on NC end of Tolumy Mt [[spelling not clearJ above Charlies Cr - ab[ou|t
2500 ft in full flower - May 16th 1900.	t
scape I4 to 15 in high
Petals 2 to 2^ in long rf- nearly as wide - leaves say 7 long by 6^ in widey^
sepals ljf by J in always apreading -^straight - not reflexed nor
erect - leaves distinct ly 3 nerved - not mottled sessile - diamond-shaped -
peduncles abfoujt 3 to 3k in long - bent dbwn.thtis 1
not curved but straight.
Largest flowers with their petals 2i in long -t* litt jlej I over-l& in wide
base of petals broad rounded but at ends about ^almost abrupt
somewhat accuminated point. Petals marked corrugated.
odor gen^eralj ly slightly acid; more rarely delicate rose-like fragrance
Handsomest of all our Mt. Trilliums; flowers largest
but leaves rather less large than the large white fid £3?.. grand 1 f 10rumTj
(sometimes pale pink tinged - and in fading turn pinkish ir
peduncles become gradually erect) Trill^.umjwhich grows
near Bl[uejRidge also. Latter May 16th at 2^00 ft
all faded whilst "Red Wines" still in full flower,
not one faded
