Sierra Nevada; Southern Sierra Nevada region: Chimney Peak Recreation Area,
summit of northern high point on Bear Mountain (Bear Peak). 35° 52'56.2"N,
118° 0478.8"WUTM Zone 11; 3971224N 402995E. Alt.: 2509m/8228ft. Burned
over woodland of Pinus monophylla and Juniperus occidentalis with Artemisia
tridentata, Ephedra viridis, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Tetradymia canescens,
Eriogonum wrightii var. subscaposum, Elymus elymoides, Poa secunda, many
annuals. Schistose, metasedimentary substrate.
Perennial herb, mostly in fruit, but some with white flowers. Locally common in
rocky areas.
