Kummer white variant Pileua 3-5 cm» plane, moist to viscid, glabrous, lacking volval v remnants, shining waxy white with faint brownish tinge in older i specimen. Flesh white, thin (about l/4 of gill width at mid-radius). Hot at all striate. Gills dose to crowded, narrow, free, developing brownish stains; I many short lamellulae. Stipe 8-9 cm, glabrous, not at all striate, white, developing faint brown stains, slightly tapering upward to about 7mm thickness at apex, terete, Superior membranous annul us, persistent. Volval remnants in substrate too fragile for collection, leaviiig a few 1 \ slight floocose remnants on bulb. Bulb expands smoothly from V —3—^ base of stipe with no suggestion of a margin but shows slight clefts at its greatest diameter. Brown stains developing on bulb. Spores strongly amyloid, subglobose to broadly elliptical, 7,4-8.1 x 6.6-7*4 microns. August 1, 1976, 2 carpophores at base of Be tula papyerifera alongside footpath to Lit ten house, Marlboro, Hancock County, Maine. (Spore print and color photo with collection.)
