Rest Area, Clinton County Site number 33, Route I-80-east, 0.6 mile west of Union County line, about 3.5 miles northeast of Eastville. 5.1 miles west of Mile Run Road exit. Vicinity of Bald Eagle State Forest. Elevation about 1430 feet. Appalachian Mountains. Gneissic rock ridge, slopes with seeps, humus-rich peaty soil. Disturbed marsh at base of seepage slope, with Sphagnum sp. (moss), Juncus effusus, Carexspip., Dryopteris spp., Osmunda spp., Glyceria melicaria, bordered by mesic forest, with Tsuga canadensis, Quercus rubra, Betula allegheniensis, Kalmia latifolia. Rather common fern; fronds and indusion with some glands and spores appear mis-shapen (under magnification); rooted in sphagnum moss, partial shade. Steven R. Hill 33904A 5 July 2001
