    Perennial shrub of 60-100cm high [elsewhere 600-1000cm], multi-stemmed. Leaves alternate; petioles are 2-3mm long; lamina simple, glabrous, deep green above, light green below, obovate, 6-8x10-14mm, margins dentate. Stems dark red/brown. Flowers solitary, about 3mm long, bud deep maroon.
