On gentle southern hill slope with pasture, in partial shade to foil sun. In well-
drained reddish stony soil of quartzite loam. Native and common. Savanna, with
Cryptolepis oblongifolia, Ozoroa, Clerodendrum and Heteropogon.
Perennial geophytic herb, 40 cm high, with numerous, succulent but woody
roots. Trifoliately compound leaves alternate, glabrous with entire leaf margins
