Note: the complete route to Posto da Mata from Nova Viçosa also includes roads BA 697 and BR 418, however those roads are not reached until further than 5 km from Nova Viçosa. Beginning at the point along BA 001 closest to the approximate geographic center of the town of Nova Viçosa (-17.900898, -39.371719), used Google Maps - Measure Distance tool to measure approximately 5 km (5.000 km) along BA 001 towards Posta da Mata (SW). Using Google Maps - What's Here tool, found coordinates (final) for the point alongside the road closest to this offset. Used Google Maps - Measure Distance tool again to find the linear extent of the starting location of the offset, the town of Nova Viçosa, by measuring along BA 001 from the selected starting coordinates near the center of the town to the farthest extent of town along BA 001 towards Posto da Mata (-17.916961, -39.404140).
