An approximately 3 acre rich fen (owned by Leon Goerdt) is about 4 miles
west/northwest of Manchester. The soil is mapped as Palms muck, 1 to 4
percent slopes (221), a Terric Medisaprist. The fen is on the Iowan Surface.
Drvopteris cristata is infrequent on the east edge (lower slope) of the fen.
Green sori are present on the underside of fertile fronds. Drvopteris cristata is
associated with Asclepias incarnata. Carex pellita. Eupatorium maculatum.
Impatiens capensis. Onoclea sensibilis. Pvcnanthemum virainianum. Rumex
orbiculatus. Spiraea alba and Thelvpteris palustris.
