NEW MEXICO, Eddy Co., 2.5 km S of the Chaves Co. line, just west of The Rim on the west slope of the Guadalupe Mts., about 100 m inside the Lincoln National Forest, center S7 T21S R18E, 32°29.65rN, 105°08.28'W, elev. 1540 m.
W-facing, open, steep, pink-reddish and gray
gypseous soil, with Yucca torreyi, Dasylirion, Haploesthes,
Rhus microphylla, Nicotiana trigonophylla, Stipa curvifolia,
Allionia incamata, Echinocereus fendleri var. fendleri,
Cevallia sinuata, Thelysperma megapotamicum, Fallugia
paradoxa, Gaillardia multiceps, Selinocarpus, Nerisyrenia.
Only a single plant noted; petals greenish; hoods dull
maroon at base, the appendage whitish, blushed dirty-maroon
along center longitudinal fold.
