North Coast Ranges of Mendocino County, near the headwaters
of Big River, along the lower edge of the Transition Zone at about
600 m. altitude.
On open grassy north slopes associated with Elymus glaucus, Brisa
minor, Bromus hordeaceus (introduced), Fragaria californioa, Pteris
aquilina, Brodiaea laxa, Achillaea millefolium, etc. The surrounding
shrubs are Rhus dvversildba and young Quercus Kelloggvi. Pseudo-
tsuga taxifolia is the dominant tree in the climax forest.
Flowers yellow.
