Steep N-facing 34° slope of rocky rhyolite and obsidian cobbles,
with pumice alluvium. Near large stratified obsidian outcrops.
Shady dry Pinus contorta forest with P. flexilis, Holodiscus
microphylla, Leptosiphon nuttallii, Eriogonum umbellatum,
Ericameria suffruticosa, Trisetum spicatum, Selaginella watsonii.
Uncommon, restricted to protected areas around bases of rock outcrops on N
slopes.
