Mahaska County: T76N R15W Section 30 SE4 NE4 SW4 NE4 UTM (NAD83, 15T): 531092 East, 4578724 North The Russell Wildlife Area is owned by the Mahaska County Conservation Board and is approximately 3 miles north of Oskaloosa. Portions of this site have been mined for limestone. The Russell Wildlife Area is on the Southern Iowa Drift Plain. Lvcopodium diaitatum occurs as a large clone (approximately 6 meters by 8 meters) iri a young, degraded oak forest. Most of the clone is growing under shrubs and saplings. The clone is just south/southeast of a mowed trail. Less than 0.1 percent of the ramets appear to have cones (immature). Lvcopodium diaitatum is associated with Betula nigra. Corn us drummondii. Quercus imbricaria. Rosa multiflora. Solidaao canadensis. Toxicodendron radicans and Zanthoxvlum americanum. Mark J. Leoschke 2498 August 14, 2004
