end of rest area. Elevation about 1620 feet. Humus
among smoothed glacial boulders (gneissic).
Mixed, mesic upland forest dominated by Tsuga,
Acer, Quercus, Prunus with Kalmia latifolia,
Vaccinium. Drier areas. Local occasional evergreen
perennial herb with upswept branches, rhizome deep in
humus.
