On vertical NW-facing 18-ft.-high sandstone cliff, in
lower half of white pine relic (Pinus strobus-1
dominant, Acer saccharum 2 dominant, with Tsuga
canadensis-rare); on extremely narrow small rock
shelf in moss mat, the Huperzia half covered with
pine
needle duff. Rare. Six plants spread along 42-in.-long
shelf. Two more small colonies on this cliff farther
south, one of 8 clumps in a string 40 in. long, the
other of 20 clumps forming a loose patch 3.5 X 1.5 ft.
Three clumps seen huddled together in a
spot at the base of the next cliff farther north. No
Huperzia lucidula was seen. Upper Cambrian or St.
Croixan ("Potsdam") sandstone.
