WASHINGTON: COWLITZ COUNTY ca. 46° 20'N; 122° 30' W. S side WA Rt. 504; S side of the N Fork of Toutle River, just E of Kid Valley. Elev. ca. 500-800 ft. W of Mt. St. Helens. West Cascade Range & Crest Ecoregion. Volcanic ash, mud and outcrops with humus at base of steep valley slope. West and outside of eruption blast zone. Wet, diverse upland forest with Thuja, Alnus, Acer macrophyllum, ferns, saxifrages. Shaded, north facing slope. Locally common fern on moist shaded slopes. Note: middle pinna longer than the rest.
