Densely forested moist slopes.

Description
Tree, 50-60 feet tall; trunk up to 2 feet in diameter; very showy tree; petals deep rose; calyx dull green; anthers creamy white with lavender appendages; filaments 10, lavender or pink; style and ovary rose-red. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
