4906. Lychnis gillettii Boivin (tentative determina-
tion by Gilbert Bocquet). petals pinkish white,
exceeding sepals by 5mm; calyx 1cm long, plant more
abundant in disturbed areas. infrequent in shallow
residual soil (2-5 inches deep) over limestone,
largest trees are jack pine and white spruce, trembling
aspen to 8 feet, ground cover mainly lichens, Arcto-
staphylos uva-ursi, Juniperus horizontalis, Saxifraga
tricuspidata. shrubs: Juniperus communis, Potentilia,
Rosa, Shepherdia. mile 28 1/2.
