In sandy, igneous soil at disturbed roadside with Larrea. Atriplex &
Sphaeralcea. Annual to 50 cm tall; herbage hirsute; sepals with
conspicuous, free, subterminal tips in bud; petals yellow; anthers
hirsute; ovary 4-locular, without a sterile tip; fruit < 2 mm wide
when fresh; seeds in 2 rows in each locule, wingless. Elev. 5 ft.
