    Scrambling tree to 8 m with trunk to 25 cm diam.; young plants erect for 2 m or more without support, despite slender stems; spidermis dark green, flesh highly mucilaginous, soon developing woody vascular core; ribs 3-4 in juvenile spms, 5 in fertile spm. In young bud, but these inaccessible. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Description: scrambling tree to 8 metres with trunk to 25 cm diam.; young
plants erect for 2 m or more without support, despite slender stems; epidermis
dark green, flesh highly mucilaginous, soon developing woody vascular core;
ribs 3-4 in juvenile spms, 5 in fertile spm. In young bud, but these
inaccessible.
Note: later seen at type locality - the bridge over stream and the old path to
the Fuerte of Samaipata, at c. 1530m.
