SCROPHULARIACEAE
Shrubby herbs to 2.5ft tall, occasional, flowers yellow
throughout & with yellow spots inside tube, buds apically red,
flowers observed being visited by bumblebees & rarely
hummingbirds. Growing in an open, dry forest, burned every
two years or so, in quartz sand & gravel (Evesboro sand, 0-
5% slopes; mesic, coated Lamellic Quartzipsamments).
Growing with Agalinis setacea, Andropogon virginictts,
Antennaria sp., Aristida longespica var. geniculata, Baptisia
tinctoria, Carex pensylvanica, Chamaecrista nictitcms,
Chrysopsis mariana, Cladonia spp., Comptoniaperegrina,
Conyza canadensis, Danthonia spicata (rare), Desmodium
paniculatum, Dichanthelium sphaerocarpon, Diodia teres,
Eragrostis spectabilis, Gaylussacia dumosa, Gnaphalium
obtusifolium (=Pseudognaphalium obtusifolium),
Helianthemum spp., Hieracium venosum (?), Hypericum
gentianoides, Ionactus (Aster) linariifolius, Juncus tenuis,
Lespedeza cuneata, L. hirta, L. intermedia, L. hirta x
intermedia (=Lespedeza x nuttallii), L. repens, Liatris
graminifolia (=L. pilosa), Linaria canadensis, Panicum
virgatum (rare), Pinus echinata, P. rigida, P. strobus (rare),
Polygonella articulata, Quercus alba, Q. montana, Q. stellata
(rare), Q. velutina, Schizachyrium scoparium, Smilax glauca,
Solidago bicolor, S. erecta, Symphyotrichum patens (=Aster
patens), Tephrosia virginica, Trichostema dichotomum,
Tridens flavus & Vaccinium pallidum. On the grounds of the
Rutgers University Pinelands Field Station, within 400ft of
the W. side of New Lisbon - Four Mile Road (Rt. 646), about
1. lmi N. of the intersection with routes 70 & 72. Burlington
