Tiquilia gossypina (Wooton & Standi.) A. T. Richardson
det. M. Nee, 2011
Wright 1557 is the Type number of Eddya hispidissima Torr.
& A. Gray [=Tiquilia hispidissima (Torr. & A. Gray) A. T.
Richardson].
Richardson (1977: 517, 519) states that Wright 1557 is a mixed
collection, and he lectotypifies Eddya hispiddisima on one
element: GH; isolectotype GH.
See: Richardson, A. T. 1977 Monograph of the genus Tiquilia
(Coldenia sensu lato), Boraginaceae: Ehretioideae, Rhodora
79: 467-572.
The other elements of Wright 1557 are T. gossypina, which
this NY sheet seems to be.
This NY sheet says “much like & probably part of C. Wright
7557” in a hand unknown to me. If all these suppositions are
correct, the material on this sheet is not a type of Eddya
hispidissima.
