hiway to White Salmon, on basaltic cliff;
inflorescence nearly flat-topped; petals
white, but soon reddish-tinged, as are the
filaments and capsules; ovary rimmed by,
but not submerged by, a ring-like disc,
the upper portion superior at anthesis;
leaves mostly deeply reddish-purplish*
tinged; sepals erect to spreading, not •
reflexed
