Presumably collected in 1829, when Dr. Zina
Pitcher was stationed as an Army surgeon at
Fort Gratiot (present site of Port Huron,
St. Clair County, Michigan). This collec-
tion presumably basis for citation from Fort
Gratiot in Torrey & Gray, FI. N. Am. Is 108.
1838. This is the only Michigan specimen I
have seen of this species! The original
data are in the hand of Asa Gray.
