SA ¿>3 Flora of Brazil Fifteenth Regnellian Expedition 1560. Calathea GOIAS: Municipio Corumba, 3-4 km S of Corumba on road (BR-414) to Anapolis. Aerial soots growing singly, all in the process of active growth, giving the impression that the plants die back in dry season. Foliage herbaceous, leaves grey-green beneath, dark green above, juveniles patterned with a greyish "brush" pattern along each side c. 3 cm from margin. Inflorescence peduncle subterraneous, white or lilac; inflorescence exposed on ground surface; bracts white when buried, pale green where exposed. Corolla tube white, lobes and staminodes bright yellow. Inflo- rescence terminal, but leafy or flowering shoots may arise in main shoot ax.ils of vigorous shoots.
